The Wirral peninsula is a varied and often picturesque area offering fine residential locations and a wide choice of recreational and leisure activities. Wirral is well served by many private and public golf courses, leisure and fitness centres, swimming pools and outdoor pursuits. The east coast of the peninsula borders the River Mersey and it has Wirral's commercial and industrial heartlands of Birkenhead, Wallasey and Bromborough.

In complete contrast the central and west coast areas include Wirral's 30 square miles of protected greenbelt, traditional villages and an unrivalled coastline with majestic views across the River Dee to the Welsh hills. Further north are the local townships of West Kirby and Hoylake with the famous Royal Liverpool Golf Club, home to the Open Championship in 2006. All locations in Wirral are within 30 minutes drive time of Egerton House.

Out-of-town and town based shopping centres are spread throughout Wirral offering a wide variety of commodity and recreational shopping options. The central modern shopping centre of Birkenhead is within a short ten-minute walk of Egerton House. Alternatively the excellent Liverpool shopping centre can be accessed within 15 minutes via Merseyrail links from Hamilton Square.
